Christmas List: say no to last-minute shopping

I said it and I meant it: this year, I declare war on last-minute gifts. The feeling of not being able to find the right gift for someone you love is just awful—especially when you're someone who likes to go against the current. It's not true that I don't have time; if I added up the minutes I spend on social media watching my favourite trio—Beatles, Sinner, and kittens—I could even squeeze in a haircut and blow-dry.

The truth is, I hate doing what everyone else does: searching online and in shops for something that might bring a smile to the faces of my favourite people.

Nevertheless, I put in the effort and can say with some satisfaction that I succeeded. As you read these lines, know that family and friends are all sorted; packages and little parcels are resting neatly under my little tree, waiting to be delivered, and I feel so proud that I declare I deserve a gift—but which one?!

What would make me truly happy? Give it some thought and discover how complicated it is to draw up a gift list worthy of the name.

Original, comfortable, yet stylish gifts: small fashion luxuries

Let's start with practical things. On the fashion front, I would absolutely love to receive:

  • - a tuxedo jacket—the kind you can pair with anything and always look fabulous
  • - a sexy pair of shoes without an exaggerated heel – running has had many beneficial effects on my little figure, but it has triggered a refusal to wear uncomfortable things
  • - a pencil skirt with a little front slit, very chic
  • - a sailor-style pea coat to feel a bit like Corto Maltese
  • - an elegant dressing gown to wear while working at home—so I feel comfortable without giving up on style

Christmas Wishlist 2025: Gifts to give yourself

In general, I would be delighted if I treated myself to:

-   a selection of bulbs for my little garden in the city

-    a tractor for cutting the grass in the meadows around the country house

-    a subscription for a monthly massage at my favourite spa

-    a trip to India and Tibet

-    Since dreaming is free, I’d also add a trip to Antarctica, the great parks of Canada, and a photographic safari in Africa

-    vintage tablecloths found at flea markets

             -   a bunch of fresh flowers as a centrepiece

Christmas Letter: A Message for You

Dear Cristina,

I'm sorry I criticised you for gaining a few pounds, skipping a workout, getting a recipe wrong, or forgetting an important meeting. I was very hard on you, and always justified it by telling myself it was for your own good—to push you to be the best version of yourself. But it was really just the fear of not being enough, of letting others down, of showing my limits and vulnerabilities. I'm sorry for all the harsh words I said to you in the mirror—you didn't deserve them, and in fact, no one should have to hear such things. I look at you and I like you—you are beautiful just the way you are.

I promise that from now on I will shower you with love, I’ll be by your side without judgement, I’ll root for you every day, and you will never feel alone again. I'm proud of you, of your achievements, your challenges and even your defeats, because you always find a way to learn something, even in the darkest moments. Always take care of yourself and remember: I love you with all my heart.
